recovery intensives

I am a Certified Addictions-Informed Mental Health Professional (CAIMPH). I have struggled with substance misuse myself and through applying the bio-psycho-sociological understanding of addiction I have been able to take control of my life and have been sober for over 30 years.

I work from a harm reduction model but if your recovery program is abstinence based I will support you in what works for you.  I have attended 12 step programs as part of my recovery and found them to be helpful. I also found that I did not need to keep attending meetings as I grew stronger in my recovery. I've found that the key to sobriety is being honest with yourself, becoming aware of triggers, learning new ways of dealing with disappointment and heaping lots of compassion on yourself. Sometimes the latter is the hardest part because we can feel such shame for crossing lines we never thought we would cross.

I will talk with you to determine what approaches to strengthening your recovery might be the best for you. You need to have a minimum of one month clean and sober in order to participate in our program. There is zero tolerance for any substance misuse while you are here. If you are working on harm reduction we will talk about how solid you feel you are in your ability to manage the amount you use.  Either way this ain't my first rodeo and I don't enable, so if you are looking at doing an intensive you have to be serious about getting your life back on track. There will be homework. You will have to show up every day, maybe twice a day depending on the program we come up with.
